Title: CNC Lathe Department Lead; Second Shift

Position Summary: The second shift lead will oversee the operation of the second shift including performing setups and providing technical assistance to operators.

Essential Functions: Meet daily with the first shift management team and receive instructions for second shift operations. Assure assigned machines are running, performing setup’s when necessary and assisting operators as needed.

Minimum Qualifications: A minimum of five years experience running CNC lathes in a production environment including some lead/supervisor experience. Ability to read and interpret blueprintsand the ability to use precision measuring tools common to the operation of CNC lathes. Above average listening and communication skills.

Working Conditions: All day standing, repetitive manual motion, heavy physical work. Walking to monitor several machines.

Title: Electrician

Department/Area: Maintenance

Position Summary: Responsible for the performance of duties as a fully qualified electrician including installation, inspection and repair of all electrical/electronic equipment in the plant. Must be flexible for overtime, odd hours and call in.

Daily Tasks: Install, troubleshoot, perform PM’s, and repair electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment by following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications. Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment, such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers, following electrical codes and blueprints. Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connect cables and wires between machines and equipment, following manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints. Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment, and replace damaged or broken wires and cables, using hand tools.  Test and diagnose malfunctioning machinery using test equipment, and repairs malfunction with other maintenance workers, such as machine technicians, maintenance and/or tool maker. Replace faulty electrical components of machine, such as relays, switches, and motors, and position sensing devices.

Assist shift maintenance personnel with daily calls and duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications & Education: Proficient with computers, PLC programming, AC Drive Set-up and motor controls and power distribution. Two-year Electrical Associates Degree. Five years industrial experience. Electro-Mechanical and pneumatic system troubleshooting skills. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics and ladder logic. Good oral & written communication skills.  Proficient use of hand tools and power tools.  Must adhere to current Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures approved by OSHA.

Title: Tool Maker/EDM Operator

Department/Area: Tooling Department

Position Summary: Candidates are required to set up and operate major machining equipment including drills, conventional mill, conventional lathe and surface grinder, OD grinder, honing machine and CNC lathe.  Candidates will setup and operate EDM machines.  Candidates are required to interpret blue prints/drawings; verify and accurately report on quality and quantity of work performed; maintain a clean and organized area.

Position Summary: The ideal candidate should have 3-5 years experience in aerospace-machined part dimensional inspection (fastener experience prefered).

Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Department/Area: Maintenance

Position Summary: Employees in this job install, maintain, repair, and inspect mechanical equipment and electrical systems including maintenance of building facilities in all respects.

Purpose: Maintenance Mechanics work on everything in the facility including, but not limited to, grinders, lathes, CNC lathes, presses, cut off saws, stress and fatigue machines, parts washers, evaporator, drill presses, mills, plumbing, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, cylinders, regulators, fabrication, ducting, painting, cleaning, lubing , oiling, and many more.

Daily tasks: Repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment such as: engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment using handtools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments. Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble. Title: Nut Former Operator

Position Summary: Operate automatic nut formers that have five (5) forming dies and are equipped with automatic feeding mechanisms to form metal wire into nuts and special nut products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate nut forming machine.
  • Moves control to cycle machine through settings, stopping the machine and adjusting to positions and machine controls to allow for operating factors such as timing, and the clearance between moving parts.
  • Positions and secures heading wire onto stock feeding mechanism.
  • Adjust specific tooling and transfer fingers at each station.
  • Start machine, observes the operation and inspects first run and sample work piece to ensure machine conforms to specifications.
  • Inspects parts using micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools, to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Reads blueprint or job order for product specification such as dimensions, tolerance, number or parts to be formed and tooling instruction on type tooling required.
  • Performs record keeping, data entry, housekeeping and follows safety regulations.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Working experience in fastener manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of nut forming machinery and procedures.
  • Ability to inspect parts with a variety of inspection instruments.  Knowledge in the use of SPC.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years experience or equivalent combination of technical education and experience.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts and calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios and standard units of measurements)

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Position Summary: This is a senior position in a tooling department that will involve both the fabrication of carbide tooling and the training of junior tool makers. The candidate will spend most of his/her time producing tooling to support the heading department in the production of aerospace fasteners. Position Summary: The CNC department supervisor/second shift is responsible for all aspects  of the CNC mill and lathe departments on the second shift. This includes department production, quality, safety, and staffing.

Essential Functions: This is a “working supervisor” position that requires a combination of CNC machining and supervisorial skills. The candidate will be required to make/modify CNC programs, select  cutting tools and fixtures and complete setups. They will be required to assist operators with production and quality related problems.  They will also supervise a staff of up to 20 setup/operators.

Daily tasks: Participate in a daily production review meeting and receive the assignments for that day’s production. Ensure that all machines are running and meeting the production expectations. Assist shift personal for any production, tooling, maintenance or quality problems.  Monitor production, quality, and department activities.

Minimum Qualifications: Computer literate for loading (up and down) CNC program.  Program editing of “G” codes experience.  Five years experience in CNC setup, two years experience in a leadman or supervisor position.

Working Conditions: Standing and walking all shift, performing machine setups including retrieving and returning tools and tool holders from inventory.

Position Summary:  The candidate will evaluate, hardness, tensile properties, stress rupture testing for high strength critical application bolts used in the Aerospace industry.

Daily Tasks:  The candidate will be responsible for performing testing as lab demands require that involve preparing mounts, metallurgical evaluation, mechanical testing (tensile, shear, stress rupture, fatigue, water immersion & torque).

Minimum Qualifications & Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.  Computer literacy required.  Familiarity with working in a fast-paced environment.

Reporting Relationships:  The candidate will report to the Lab Supervisor and Director of Quality.

Position Summary: The ideal candidate will have experience in NADCAP approved heat treat operations . Must be detail oriented and capable to maintain process requirements and process documentation with precision. Capable to work safely in a heat treat environment with hot parts.

Purpose: Heat Treat parts during the manufacturing process of aerospace fasteners.

Essential Functions: Follow written instructions.  The candidate will be required to wash parts, load/unload furnaces, set/monitor furnace settings, set/monitor processing soak time, test hardness and daily calibrate hardness machines, prepare/fill required documentation, assist with furnace calibrations or surveys, and maintain required logs.

Daily Tasks:  Daily responsibilities will be to perform the essential job functions, move parts, assist with heat treat equipment, maintenance, and calibration.

Title:                                      Manufacturing Engineer; Nuts

Department/Area:                  Engineering/Manufacturing

Position Summary:     This position will assume overall responsibility for the planning, engineering, manufacturing and testing of high strength aerospace nuts. Will work under the direction of the Director of Engineering and will coordinate the manufacturing of nuts, including tool design, manufacturing and acceptance testing.

Principle Duties:

  • Review customer provided drawings and documents to assist the Sales department in the quotation preparation process.
  • Assist the quality organization in the interpretation of customer drawings and specification in the completion of pre production quality review.
  • Coordinate part design and dimensioning, sequence of operations and the stage drawings to develop lowest cost/highest productivity as well as best quality attainable.
  • Design tools required and coordinate with the tooling department for their production.
  • Assist manufacturing departments in the setup and operation of equipment to insure the highest level of quality and productivity possible. Participate in the troubleshooting of tooling and machine problems. Change product grouping, part design, tool design or manufacturing method as necessary based on troubleshooting activities.
  • Develops appropriate testing tools, fixturing and protocols and oversees their implementation in the acceptance testing of nuts.
  • Make recommendation to acquire improved tooling and equipment as deemed appropriate to the manufacture of nuts.
  • Represents the engineering function in MRB, cause and corrective action identification for nut manufacturing.
  • Participate in management team activities including capital expenditure and operational budgeting.
  • Performs additional planning and engineering activities on parts or processes other than nuts as directed.

Essential Job Skills:

  • Detailed knowledge of all process used in the manufacture of high temperature, high strength aerospace nuts including the measurement and testing of hardware.
  • Extensive knowledge in part design, characteristics of material and the effect of thermal treatments on material.
  • Particular expertise in the forming of internal threads and thread locking configurations as used in the manufacture of aerospace nuts
  • Exceptional mechanical aptitude and the ability to comprehend the various parameters involved in both hot and cold forging. Willingness to work hands on at the machine level to understand and improve processes.
  • Understanding of the relationships between part design, tool design and machine operation. Design of tools, preparation of tooling drawings and coordination of tooling raw materials and tooling inventory.
  • Ability to read comprehend and interpret detailed instructions, specifications and quality requirements both written and graphical. Ability to read and comprehend training and procedure manuals, equipment operational manuals, professional journals, business periodicals and government regulations.
  • Ability to work across department boundaries to coordinate efforts toward the efficient operations of the broad spectrum of manufacturing, thermal treatment and inspection processes.
  • Ability to multi-task and work with various challenges, deal with a variety of situations in a dynamic, fast paced environment
  • Strong teaching skills, the ability to help others learn quickly and efficiently.
  • Strong computer skills including the use of CAD tools and the preparation of detailed parts drawings.

JOB DESCRIPTION-Hot Heading Manager Second Shift

4 Day Week

Position Summary: Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing and to the day shift Hot Heading Manager, will have overall responsibility for the day to day operations of a forging department on the second shift. This will include all production, tooling, quality, safety and staffing responsibilities.

The  ideal candidate will have the following

  • Experience in production of high-temperature high strength fasteners for the Aerospace industry utilizing traditional and non-traditional techniques
  • Production management experience with metal fasteners for the aerospace industry is a plus.
  • Advanced measurement abilities including dimensional and microstructure
  • Supervisorial experience of a diverse production department.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis of forging tooling and process problems to continually drive production and quality improvements.

Purpose: The candidate will supervise and provide guidance and training to machine operators on the second shift. Monitoring and support of established manufacturing processes will be required.

Skills and Attributes:  The ideal candidates will have experience in the management of department staff in a high production environment. Experience producing high-temperature high strength fasteners for the Aerospace industry. Ability to use and to teach others to use various inspection gauges (micrometer, caliper, indicator, and comparator).  Candidates should posses good communication skills, the ability to multi-task and be able to work with minimal supervision. Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner. Gathers and analyzes information skillfully. Develops alternative solutions as required under the circumstances.  Prioritizes and plans work activities. Uses time efficiently.

Experience Required   Minimum 5+ years experience in a supervisorial or manager role.
